“Tradition” is the spirit of a place embodied within the space. Space forms the skeleton, while “spirit” is the soul. The “tailoring” that strings together the entire spatial experience—its quality—emerges from the integration of modern life and contemporary craftsmanship. A straightforward, symbolic application of retro elements forced into the space would only result in an “old teahouse”-style sales environment—one lost in nostalgia yet unable to embrace the present. Traces of tradition and age should instead evoke a subtle sense of sentiment within the space—neither loud nor literal.
